It Was A Dark And Stormy Night.....

While I was out tonight the sky got very dark and ominous, and then the rain, thunder and lightning started. I am not a big fan of thunder and lightning. Driving to the house the lightning was big and huge going across the sky and connecting with itself, it was way freaky. I pull in the driveway already creeped out, and start walking up the dark and rainy pathway. I'm about five feet from the porch when I hear this loud snort. What to do! Do I panic and run back to the car? Do I risk it and run towards the snorting sound to the porch and have my back to the mystery? After about a year of hesitation I take the chance and make a break for the porch. I then text Z, who is not back yet, to tell him to come in the garage because there's a monster in the front yard. Luckily, he kept his head and told me it was just a deer. Turns out even deer have sinus problems.

It's Magic!

So this morning when I went to work I noticed that I really needed to put gas in my car. I don't know about everyone else, but I usually wait until my light is on before stopping to get gas. This morning it wasn't quite on, so I still had time. When I came out after work, my tank was full! And this was the second time in the past two weeks that this happened! I think there is a fuel fairy floating around somewhere that doesn't want me running out of gas and getting stuck on the side of the road. Lucky for me, my car tells my how many miles I can go before getting gas.

Beeeef!

Saturday night we ate at a Brazilian restaurant in Philly, I can't pronounce it and can spell it even less. Something like Fogo de Chau. We set off on our outing, the eight of us, with big ambitions. The men hadn't eaten anything ALL DAY, to save room for the meat. I guess they don't know that will make their stomach shrink and have less room to eat. Not me! I had my lovely liquid lunch and breakfast, and three snack bars. I was ready!
We took the recommended exit, onto Broad Street. And then we followed it alllll the way down. The road ends at a circle, our street was the last one before the circle. Broad has approximately a thousand red lights, and we hit each and every one of them. Z was having a fit. We had a reservation for 7:00 pm, and ended up being a few minutes late. Thank goodness for valet parking. I reluctantly handed over my keys, received my ticket and we headed in.
We were seated right away. A man came over and explained the rules - two courses, salad and MEAT. Salad we could have any time we wanted, and we could eat our fill. When we were ready for meat, all we needed to do was to flip over the coaster on the table over to the "green" side. Green means bring on the meat, red means no thank you. Salad bar was delicious, a meal in itself, which I'm sure is their plan. I've never seen smoked salmon at a salad bar before. Truth be told, I hope to never again, since I hate seafood.
Once we had indulged in as much lettuce (in my case) as we could, we decided to brave it and flip over to the green side. It probably took a good ten seconds before the first meat man showed up. And then they just kept coming. There was a filet, bacon wrapped chicken, top sirloin, parmesan pork (my favorite), linguica, sausage, oh my! I think there were twelve different meats in all. Each was carried around in circles by men with knives, who would cut off a piece right at the table for you. Each of us had little tongs that we would grab the food with, once it was cut. The different meats were cooked different on each side, so we could specify how we wanted it cooked, and still be served immediately.
Once we were groaning and bursting with food, they came around again to see who wanted dessert. The girls out there know there is always room for dessert, the guys do not save room. Ever. But we did it, and were glad we did!

Liquid Lunch

I started doing Slim Fast this past Monday. Since I moved to Delaware, Z has been promising "we'll get to the gym next week". Ten weeks of hearing this has made me realize that we're not ever going to get there. Hence, the Slim Fast. I have never tried this diet before, but it seems to be working pretty good. Four pounds in 5 days is pretty good! Tonight we're going to a Brazilian Steakhouse in Philly, so all deals are off, but so far it's been good! What other diet can you have two chocolate shakes a day, three chocolate bars and a dinner? Life is pretty good, I feel like I'm getting away with something. And fitting into my wedding gown will be rather nice, too!

Men are from Mars....

I'm sure you've all heard the saying "Men are from Mars, women are from Venus". It's true. I'm realizing exactly how true since Z and I have been living together. He's pretty set in his ways, and so am I. I'm a Virgo, and that can complicate things, since I'm always right.
We went to the store the other day, to get hangers. Well, I can't just go to the store to get hangers, I need to wander around the store to see what other things they have that I just can't live without. Plus I had heard about this bathroom set the store had that I just couldn't live without.
We had said hangers in our hands, when I found more things I needed to buy. After a few not-so-gentle proddings from me, Z went to get a carriage. He couldn't understand why we needed a carriage for hangers. Oh grasshopper, stick with me.
After about half an hour, and a few items more, we were done. Turns out we needed more than just hangers!
Z decided that going forward, he's going to let me handle the shopping on my own. All that time wasted, when he could have been crawling around on the ground under a car!
